Aaron Civale struggled mightily in Saturday's matchup, allowing six earned runs on eight hits while striking out three over 4 1/3 innings in the Rays' 8-7 loss to the White Sox.
Fantasy Impact:
This performance certainly didn't help his season ERA, which ballooned to 5.06, nor did it do any favors for his WHIP, now sitting at 1.31. Despite a decent strikeout rate of 9.6 K/9 this season, Civale's inconsistency in game outcomes and his elevated ERA make him a risky play in fantasy leagues. His FIP at 4.41 suggests some underlying issues that haven't been completely addressed. Fantasy managers should consider these factors heavily when deciding whether to keep him in their starting rotation.
