Eligibility
Cody Poteet allowed two earned runs over five innings, striking out six in the Yankees' 7-3 victory over the Giants.
Fantasy Impact
While not a disastrous outing, Poteet's performance was a step back from his stellar season start, posting a respectable 2.45 ERA and 0.91 WHIP. His ability to maintain a high strikeout rate was evident with six Ks, but allowing three hits and a walk shows some cracks in his control. With a 4.08 FIP indicating potential regression, fantasy managers should be cautious. Poteet's low BABIP (.241) suggests he's been somewhat lucky, and maintaining such effectiveness could be challenging as the season progresses.
The Yankees called up Cody Poteet from Triple-A Scranton Wilkes-Barre on Saturday.
Fantasy Impact
Poteet is expected to take the mound for Saturday's game against the Giants. He has the chance to take the spot of Clarke Schmidt in the starting rotation until Gerrit Cole returns from the injured list.
Cody Poteet is expected to start for the Yankees on Saturday against the Giants.
Fantasy Impact
Poteet will take the spot of Clarke Schmidt (lat) in the starting rotation. He allowed one run over six innings in a start earlier this season against the Guardians.
Cody Poteet has been activated from the 15-day injured list on Friday and is available against Philadelphia.
Fantasy Impact
Poteet has been on the injured list since May 29 with a right elbow injury and has had an extended rehab. He'll return to the Marlin's bullpen, most likely in a long relief role. He did start two games earlier this season and has a 2.42 ERA and 1.04 in 11 appearances.
Cody Poteet worked three innings in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Rays, giving up five runs on four hits and three walks whiles striking out one.
Fantasy Impact
Poteet has been outstanding so far this season. At least, he has aside from the first inning of Wednesday's start - his second of the year - in which the Rays tagged him for five earned runs. Overall, the 27-year-old righty has allowed only seven runs across 26 innings for an excellent 2.42 ERA to this point. Poteet is serving in a swingman role for the Marlins. He could return to the bullpen after this outing or get another start in Colorado on Tuesday.
