When asked about the Giants considering trading up for a quarterback last month during the NFL Draft, Jones said he is focused on what he can control. He added he expects to be healthy for training camp. The Giants did bring in Drew Lock this offseason who figures to add some competition to the quarterback room. It will be a big year for Jones to prove himself this season.
New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll said that when veteran QB Daniel Jones "gets back, he'll be the guy," but was noncommittal on a timetable or a Week 1 return.

Daboll seemed confident in newly acquired QB Drew Lock, saying that "he knows what his role is going to be." However, he did reaffirm that, for now, Jones is the QB1 in New York. However, Daboll reportedly "balked at committing to a Week 1 return" but said Jones continues to improve health-wise. The Giants may give Jones one more year before it's easier to cut him after 2024, though their draft choices will indicate their plans.
According to Giants beat reporter Jordan Raanan, the team would be open to drafting a quarterback early if the situation presents itself.

Jones just signed a four-year deal last offseason, but the Giants have the No. 6 overall pick in April to go along with multiple second-round picks. There are reportedly questions as to if the Giants want to move forward with Jones or not.
Daniel Jones said being back for the start of training camp next year is his goal.

Jones told reporters that after undergoing surgery, it was determined that it was just an ACL injury, no other structural damage. Giants GM Joe Schoen has said Jones is the starter next season if he is healthy for the Giants, though they'll likely still consider addressing the position in the NFL Draft next April.
New York Giants GM Joe Schoen said Monday that the expectation remains that Daniel Jones is the team's starter when healthy.

“We’re going to have to do something at quarterback,” Schoen said when asked if it means they won’t draft a quarterback. It is all very early a lot can change depending on where the Giants are drafting. Tyrod Taylor is going to be a free agent so they'll likely have to address the position at some point but whether that is early in the draft or not remains to be seen. At this moment, the Giants are on track for a top 5-6 pick to which point drafting a quarterback with that selection is a very realistic scenario.
